The American elm was once the
most widely planted, versatile and loved urban tree in the U.S. Its
widespread devastation from Dutch elm disease is still deeply and
profoundly felt.
What happened in your
neighborhood or community when the elm trees died? How did you feel
about this loss? Were the trees ever replaced?
The Elm Project would like to
hear your story as it chronicles the history of elms as part of the
urban forest and celebrates the planting of disease-resistant elms.
